With Auto mode selected, you can ask your question without first choosing between Assistant and Legal Research. Zeno decides whether legal sources are needed for that request.
What is Auto?
Auto is selected by default when you open a new Zeno thread. It considers each request and chooses an appropriate approach.
If your question requires legal sources, Zeno uses Legal Research and includes citations in the answer. For drafting, summarising or other tasks that do not require legal research, Zeno can respond directly.
You do not need to decide which option to use before you start. Legal Research and Assistant remain available if you want to make that choice yourself.
How to use Auto
Open a new Zeno thread and check that Auto is selected.
Review the selected jurisdictions if your question concerns a particular country or legal system. Dutch and European Union jurisdictions are selected by default.
Enter your question or instruction as you normally would.
Send the request and wait for Zeno to decide whether legal sources are needed.
Review the answer and its citations when Zeno uses legal sources.
When Auto uses legal sources
Zeno uses legal sources when your question calls for source-based legal research, such as finding the applicable legal framework, examining legislation or reviewing relevant case law.
For example, a question about the legal framework for terminating an agreement under Dutch law is likely to require legal sources.
For tasks such as rewriting an email, summarising a document or improving wording, Zeno can usually respond without conducting legal research.
When to choose Legal Research or Assistant yourself
Choose Legal Research when you want Zeno to use legal sources for the request, even if Auto might otherwise answer directly.
Choose Assistant when you want a direct response without legal research, for example when drafting, rewriting or working with documents.
You can select either option before sending your request.
Important Points to Note
Auto considers each request separately. You can choose Legal Research or Assistant yourself when you want more control.
Questions that require legal research can take longer because Zeno needs to find and review relevant sources.
If you expected legal sources but the answer does not include citations, select Legal Research and submit the question again.
Check that the selected jurisdictions match your question before submitting it.
