Zeno integrates directly into Microsoft Word to help legal professionals review, draft, and edit documents more efficiently, while preserving legal context and formatting.
The Word Add-In is divided into 2 functionalities: the 'Ask' mode, and the 'Draft' mode.
Ask Mode
Ask Mode helps you quickly understand and review documents by asking questions in natural language. Zeno uses the selected text or the entire document as context and responds in the chat sidebar.
What you can do with Ask Mode
Understand a document quickly
Surface key information, obligations, and potential issues without reading line by line. Ask targeted questions while reviewing or editing.
Example prompts:
"What are the key obligations in this contract?"
"What are the payment terms?"
"Summarize the commercial terms in a bulleted list."
Check consistency across the document
Identify mismatches, missing definitions, or inconsistent use of terms throughout the document.
Example prompts:
"Are there inconsistencies between the defined terms and how they are used?"
"Look for definitions that are not in the Interpretations list but should be there, and edit accordingly."
Draft Mode
Draft Mode is designed for rewriting, adjusting tone, making global changes, or creating templates, while keeping formatting and legal structure intact.
Zeno provides suggestions that you can:
Apply with tracked changes
Apply directly
Insert as a comment
Common Draft Mode use cases
Rewrite clauses instantly
Edit the tone, balance, or legal position of a specific clause to speed up review and negotiation.
How it works:
Select the clause you want to edit in the document.
Enter your instruction in Draft Mode.
Example prompts:
"Make this clause more seller friendly."
"Add carve outs for market standard liability limitations."
"Strengthen the confidentiality term."
Make intelligent markups across the document
Apply consistent changes throughout the document based on the context you provide.
Example prompts:
"Change all references to a 30 day payment term to 45 days."
"Add standard liability caps from our template: [insert standard liability caps here]."
"Add a governing law clause for New York at the end of the agreement."
Create a template from an existing contract
Turn a contract or selected sections into a reusable template. Zeno replaces variable terms such as party names, dates, amounts, or jurisdictions with structured placeholders, while preserving clause structure and legal language.
Example prompts:
"Create a reusable template from this document. Replace specific values with placeholders and preserve all defined terms and clause structure."
"Create a template from this section of the contract. Replace only the party names with placeholders."
Fill in a template with context
Populate a template using client specific information. Zeno dynamically includes, excludes, or rewrites clauses so the final draft reads as a coherent, situation specific document.
Example prompt:
"Use the provided personal information on my client to populate this contract template. [Insert client information here]"
