Artefacts let you ask Zeno for a document, spreadsheet, PDF or email draft and receive it as a file in the thread, ready for your review.
What are Artefacts?
An artefact is a file that Zeno creates from your instructions. Instead of responding only text in the conversation, Zeno can prepare a file that you can preview, download, save or open in a compatible application.
Zeno can currently create:
Word documents in DOCX format
PDF files
Excel spreadsheets in XLSX format
Email drafts in EML format
The artefact remains with the conversation, so you can return to the thread and review it later.
How to create an artefact
Open a Zeno thread.
Ask Zeno to create the file you need and name the preferred format (for example, a memo as a Word document or a matter tracker as an Excel spreadsheet).
Wait while the artefact card shows that Zeno is preparing the file.
Select the artefact card to review the preview in Zeno.
Zeno will show the entire document in the side-bar for you to view.
Choose the available action for the file, such as Download, Save to Library, Open in Word, Open in Excel or Open in Mail.
What you can do with an artefact
Download. Save the generated file to your device.
Save to Library. Add the artefact to your Zeno Library so you can find it outside the conversation.
Open in Word or Excel. Open a DOCX or XLSX file in the compatible desktop application installed on your device.
Work with an email draft. Preview the email in Zeno, copy its body, download the EML file or select Open in Mail to continue in your device's default mail application.
The actions you see depend on the type of artefact Zeno creates and the applications available on your device.
Important Points to Note
Open in Word and Open in Excel require compatible desktop Office applications. If one is unavailable, download the file instead.
Open in Mail opens your device's default mail application. It does not send the email, and Zeno does not currently create an Outlook Web draft.
Open in Mail cannot carry attachments. Download the EML file if you need to retain attachments with the draft.
Email attachments must come from the same Zeno run. Each attachment must be smaller than 3 MiB, with a combined limit of 10 MiB.
Zeno does not currently edit an uploaded file and return a revised version.
You can ask Zeno to generate another artefact from a new request, but Zeno does not currently maintain versions of an artefact.
Review the generated file before sharing it or relying on it in your work.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask Zeno to edit an existing document?
Not yet. Zeno currently creates a new artefact from your instructions. It does not edit an uploaded document and return a revised file.
Can I revise an artefact after Zeno creates it?
You can send a new request and ask Zeno to generate another artefact. Zeno does not currently maintain a version history or refine a previous artefact as a new version.
Where can I find an artefact later?
The artefact remains in the Zeno thread where it was created. If you select Save to Library, you can also find it in your Zeno Library.
Can Zeno send an email for me?
No. Zeno creates an email draft for you to review. You can copy the body, download the EML file or open the draft in your default mail application, then decide whether to send it yourself.
What happens if I do not have Word or Excel installed?
Download the DOCX or XLSX file and open it in another compatible application. A browser-editable Office fallback is not currently available.
